After a healthy dose of vitamin P (vitamin Podium that is) all of our facial blemishes have miraculously disappeared.
The first trip to Germany as Ollie Q was like giant breath of fresh air after living a week in the sewer. You feel you are really alive and that what you are doing is being appreciated from this type of experience. Which is why playing live is so important to musicians and necessary as therapy for us Ollie’s.
We knew from the evenings schedule that we would get to see Skin Ya Teet rock the house (which they did). So we decided we could not possibly drive back after the gig because we did not want to miss The Montesas and St. Petersburgh Ska Jazz Review. Thanks goes to St. PSJR and Johannes for giving us a place to sleep on such short notice.
The Hoeschbar was filled from the bashment to the attic with the sound of good music. The DJ’s upstairs played nothing but great songs. I have never heard so many prime-cuts played one after another continuely for more the 7 hours straight! And if that was not enought Skin Ya Teet, Ollie Q, Montesas and St. PSJR in the basement!
Ollie Q played a straight set of all originals to a very enthousiatic group of music lovers, who made us very happy by singing along. And we thank you, everyone, the club, and Johannes Böing for giving us the opportunity. If you did not get a CD while you were there then come see us at the next gig in Essen or copy it from your friend. “Waking Up Dead” from Ollie Q + The Deep Six is out now!
